Ilyass is a fourth-year Bachelor of Information student at the University of Toronto. He is interested in how to use data to strengthen democracy. Previously, he worked as a data journalism intern for The Local (Toronto) where he helped the team analyze and present information to hold institutions accountable. He also advises the government on issues related to transparency as a member of the youth council for Library and Archives Canada. Ilyass is very interested in how artificial intelligence affects democracy; he has written a paper quantifying and analyzing the usages of textual generative AI in the U.S. Congress. Outside of this, Ilyass enjoys watching movies and reading. He has recently discovered a new passion for blog posts.
